Artist Statement
Painting is my way of studying the earth, and fulfilling a desire of the contemplative consciousness. Creation groans with all of its beauty and chaos, and i feel an almost urgent need to study it as an extension of my own hand - of my own paintbrush. I am in a constant state of searching and discovering, and learning and teaching, all of which break through the surfaces of my work at different peaks, like a mountain chain only seen from above the clouds. My work often displays common themes, of which are naturally imposed, that seem to carry with them a dark side as well as a light side. One must explore both extremes in order to create work that is not only an extension of one's own experiences, but also a look into the unknown.
